What the f*** is a  Sound Supervisor?

In Live Sports and Entertainment Television, the Sound Supervisor is the person who is ultimately responsible for all aspects of both the programme audio (what the listener hears) and also all the communications (presenter earpieces through to ISDNs & DELs)

Generally the sound supervisor will mix the show or event from a control room or truck, away from the studio or set. As such they'll choose a "floor" team who will be their eyes and ears at the business end, and it's these sound assistants who liaise with artists and talent on their behalf and take care of microphones & patching.
